It's one of the most exciting times of your life, but you probably don't need to be reminded about all of the so-called side effects that are about to affect you when you give birth.

For the purposes of today, we are just going to focus on your body. In other words, your ears can take a break from hearing all of the stories about the lack of sleep and other similar side effects.

As we all know, pregnancy is an immense period of change for your body. Unfortunately, even though some celebrities might make it seem this way, it's not easy for you to return to your pre-pregnant state.

A lot of new moms actually make a lot of mistakes in relation to this and through today's post we will highlight some of the most common so you don't fall into three traps.

Mistake #1 – You start too quickly

As we have recently alluded to, this first mistake might be because of the celebrity world which suggests that new moms can return to their former selves in a matter of weeks.

Well, here is a newsflash, this rarely happens. In fact, in some cases new moms aren't even expected to engage in any exercise until six weeks after giving birth. Any sooner than this and you can place your health at risk, so this is advice that we would recommend you stick to.

Mistake #2 – You set unrealistic expectations

This is linked to the previous point, with some new moms setting a goal of reaching their former body shape in a ridiculously short period of time.

As it turns out, you don't have the resources available to you that you once did. You don't have the time or energy that will allow you to "invest" in your body. Ultimately, you are more likely to fail with your goals and this can lead to a huge drop in your motivational levels.

This is one of the reasons why a lot of new moms turn to a Beverly Hills breast augmentation procedure, as this is something that can accelerate the process somewhat.

Mistake #3 – You eat for two

You might have heard all of the hype about eating for two but in reality, all this is going to do is add inches to your waistline.

Does your baby need nutrition? Absolutely, but there are ways and means to do this. You will need to consume a few more calories if you are breastfeeding, but this is where it stops.

Mistake #4 – You don't consume the right foods

The previous point may have focussed on quantities, but there is also a point about the quality of food you are turning to. With your time under such constraints, the easiest thing for a lot of people is to turn to ready meals and even fast food.

Suffice to say, this is asking for trouble. Your body, and your baby's for that matter, won't be delivered the right nutrients and there's also a high chance of these foods containing all of the fats and other nasty substances that you need to avoid.
