NFL Trade Rumors Post Super Bowl LV

We just had the privilege of watching history being made in multiple ways.

Super Bowl LV was a blowout and many were unhappy with the results. But I called it, I knew that the betting line was soft and after checking in an online betting calculator it took the Buccaneers multiple ways. So, for me, the blowout was a great time. Each score further alleviated any worries I had about making the wrong decisions.

But back to the history books getting more detailed. This was the first time a hosting team ever played in the Super Bowl, and they won! That's double history right there. Then we have Tom Brady and Gronkowski adding to their Super Bowl stats. Gronk now looks untouchable for several TE stats and Tom Brady has SEVEN rings, FIVE Super Bowl MVPs, and more stat records that will likely never be broken than most players even have records at all. And . . . the whole Brady versus Bill debate has been put to bed.

But beyond watching what was the culmination of a crazy season and one for the history books, once the Super Bowl is done, the real trade rumors start to emerge.

Carson Wentz May Fly From the Eagles' Nest

The latest rumors say that Carson Wentz may be traded as early as the first week following the Super Bowl.

The organization already got rid of Doug Peterson. Apparently, the biggest rift was regarding the future of none other than Wentz, himself. Now, it's pretty clear that Carson Wentz wants out of Philadelphia.

The problem with trading Wentz is he's basically attached to Howie Roseman. Who, was brought back after getting fired over the Chip Kelly debacle. So, if Wentz is gone, is Philly also looking for a new GM. I mean, honestly, since the Super Bowl win in 2018, it's pretty much just been downhill. And when I say downhill, I don't mean a nice, easy, leisurely stroll with less resistance than walking uphill. I mean like Sisyphus chasing a stupid, heavy-ass boulder that's bouncing and careening out of control down to the bottom of the hill . . . again. A stupid rock that is supposed to be at the top of the hill thus must be pushed back up to the top once more.

The other issue is whoever wants Wentz will need to pick-up his significantly expensive contract as well. So, who will give up enough assets to take on Carson?

He could go to the Colts. It would be a great storyline if he did. Many think he'll go to the Chicago Bears. In fact, there are rumors that the Bears actually have an offer in, but the Eagles are trying to lure the Colts back in to simply drive up the cost on the Bears. But what a storyline it would be if Nick Foles was dealt back to the Eagles in a deal with Wentz going to the Bears. Now . . . I'm not exactly sure why this trade would happen. What is the benefit for the Bears? Is Wentz that much better than Foles? No. They are both injury prone and the Bears would be taking on a larger salary with Wentz. I mean, even Brett Farve told ESPN that the Eagles should have kept Foles over Wentz in the first place. Bad decisions abound, I guess.

But this deal could include Foles, Tarik Cohen, and the Bears' first-round pick (No. 20). Ok . . . That seems outrageous for a struggling QB who just lost his job to a rookie. But whatever, that's why I don't get paid the big bucks, I guess.

Watson on the Wire

The Houston Texans are reportedly trying to hang on to Deshaun Watson. So much so that they are rejecting calls from potential suitors. But Deshaun wants out of Houston. And I do think he'll eventually get his wish over the offseason.

Another big name player with rumors starting up is Russell Wilson. So far, the Seahawks have said no to callers, as there is no reason to trade him. That said, the rumor has started.
